Why we chose Bahen & Co

Present Box Co includes mouth-wateringly delicious Bahen & Co stone ground chocolate bars in a selection of our gift boxes. 

Based in Margaret River, Western Australia, Bahen & Co is part of an emerging craft chocolate movement that uses only cacao beans and organic sugar. With former lives as vignerons, Jacqui & Josh Bahen, the owners have taken a simplistic approach to respect flavours and connect back to the cacao source.

Using vintage machines, such as a 1930s roaster from Germany, Bahen & Co. makes chocolate the old-fashioned way, in small batches, hand-wrapping each bar.

The couple is continually searching for fine-flavoured cacao and building long-term relationships with farmers worldwide based on solid principles of mutual benefit, transparency and fairness. By paying direct and cutting out the middleman, we exceed Fair Trade and pay prices that respect the farmer's efforts.

Our team struggled to pick their favourites out of the Bahen & Co range, however the two winners for us were:

Guatemala 75% Cacao

Made from cocoa beans grown on the steep slopes of the Oana Itzam Mountains, you'll enjoy flavours of cookie dough, banana and soft caramel.

Organic Milk Chocolate

Made from organic milk and Madagascan cacao from the Somia Plantation, you'll enjoy a distinctively creamy chocolate flavour with notes of caramel and shortbread.
